My Background in Real Estate

My interest in real estate began in my home state of North Carolina in the mid-1990s. Employed as an assistant for a successful real estate agent I learned the importance of organization, time management, and client relations. Later, employed as a closing coordinator for a legal firm that specialized in real estate transactions, I helped prepare transactions for closing. It was there that I saw how properties are conveyed from one owner to another. Then, as a secretary for a land development company, I learned how urban neighborhoods were created and developed. I became familiar with plat maps, aided in the institution of homeowners associations, recorded deeds at the local register of deeds office, and occasionally attended closings on behalf of the company. I believe the compilation of these various experiences has helped prepare and mold me into the seasoned professional I am today.

Why I Became An Agent

Simply stated, it just felt like the next best thing for me to do especially after having sat in so many chairs around the real estate table, so to speak. I love the flexibility it affords me and I love being able to impart my own unique creativity into my marketing. I enjoy learning the industry and I love meeting and helping great people, many of whom I have become great friends with long after we've left the closing table.

Why I Love Being a Driftless Agent

As an outdoor enthusiast, I fell in love with southwestern Wisconsin's Driftless Region the very first time I saw it in the summer of 2014 when my then fiancé, Dennis, took me to Granddad's Bluff in La Crosse. I knew immediately that I was home! No matter how much time I spend here, I am always in awe of the pristine beauty of these forested hills and the serpentine flow of the Kickapoo River as it slowly carves its way through the hills and valleys that make up this amazing rural landscape. Who better to choose as your marketing agent than someone who loves this area as much as I do?

Why Choose Me As Your Agent?

I am a conscientious business factor dedicated to providing my clients with the best possible communication, service, and satisfaction. I am also known for being a kind, caring, empathetic agent sensitive to the needs and goals of the people I serve and I am prepared to provide you with the same dedicated attention and service.

My Credentials

Lifestyle Property Specialist

United Country Real Estate is the leading, fully integrated network of conventional and auction real estate professionals in the nation. Our company has been an innovator in lifestyle and country real estate marketing since 1925.

For more than 90 years, United Country has helped America rediscover a dream that’s as old as America itself; love of the land, and the dream of owning property. If you’re searching for country homes, farms and ranches, recreational property, luxury estates, commercial property or any other of our dozens of specialty property groups, we are your #1 source for lifestyle real estate.

I specialize in marketing the lifestyle a property offers rather than just the location, square footage, and the number of rooms it may have. Most often, buyers are more interested in locating a property that best represents their desired lifestyle and speaking from my own experience, it can be very frustrating trying to locate a 10-Acre hobby farm for sale, a country home for sale, or a 50-acre apple orchard for sale when they have to start their search with the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, as most buyers are prompted to do on any typical real estate company website. THIS IS HOW WE DIFFER FROM OTHER REAL ESTATE COMPANIES!

What’s the difference between a Real Estate Agent and a REALTOR®?

The term REALTOR® is a trademark referring to someone who's an active member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). In the United States, a real estate agent is licensed to help consumers buy and sell commercial or residential property. However, not all real estate agents are REALTORS®, nor are all REALTORS® necessarily real estate agents. Home appraisers, property managers, real estate counselors and real estate brokers also can be members of the NAR, earning them the title of REALTOR®.

I am a REALTOR®. As such, I am held to a higher standard of ethical practice and must adhere to a Code of Ethics.

GRI, Graduate of REALTOR® Institute

This designation allows me to better serve and protect my clients through an understanding of new technology, laws, and procedures. The GRI designation is to real estate what the CPA designation is to accountants. REALTORS® boasting the GRI designation are set apart as masters of the real estate profession, possessing advanced skills and techniques. REALTORS® with this designation have in-depth training in legal and regulatory issues, technology, and professional standards, as well as the sales process.

SRS, Seller Representative Specialist

This is a premier credential in seller representation. It is designed to elevate professional standards and enhance personal performance. The designation is conferred by the Real Estate Business Institute (REBI) to real estate practitioners with advanced professional training essential to representing sellers.

SRS designees are extensively trained in a wide variety of manual and electronic marketing methods to uniquely promote our seller’s property to the widest range of prospective purchasers. We understand that negotiation skills are critical to a successful transaction and we are trained to ensure our clients receive the best possible outcome during negotiations of the sale. We adhere to the hightest level of professional ethics and business practices in delivering the highest level of service and professionalism with integrity. We have an advanced level of understanding on how to collaborate with a variety of cooperating agents of all skill levels in the marketplace to ensure that the most qualified buyers have an opportunity to purchase the seller’s property. To summarize, SRS designees understand our seller’s perspectives and are qualified and committed to helping our clients achieve a successful transaction.

PSA, Pricing Strategy Advisor

This designation was specifically designed to help designees enhance our skills in pricing properties, creating Comparative Market Analyses (CMA) when working with sellers and appraisers, and helps us guide our clients through the anxieties and misperceptions they often have about home and property values.

The course I took for this designation helped me to identify appropriate comparable properties when researching the market for current, pending, and recent past sales to compare the subject property to. I also gained knowledge about the role that supply and demand plays in pricing; how to adjust comparable properties when comparing them to my subject property; how to guide my clients through the CMA; how to work with appraisers; and, how to hone my pricing skills and practices.
